Activating new customers even before they purchase

Nov 25, 16 Activating new customers even before they purchase

Article Written by : The Great American Small Business Challenge It is one thing to get visitors to come to a website, it is entirely another to actually get them to take or make a purchase. Some might even find the products and service interesting but never came with intention of making a purchase. Others want to buy but do not really need what is on offer right now, but intend to return at a later date. Activating these visitors can result in a significant increase in sales. A good strategy to follow is to give such visitors an incentive to make a purchase immediately. One example of such a strategy is by Thrive Market. It is an online membership-based health food and grocery site. They use this strategy to good effect by encouraging the shopper to make a purchase by providing them with a significant discount on the first order. The urgency to purchase is increased by a time limit on the discount offer. In order words, the shopper has to buy within the day or the offer expires. This is a great way to get anyone on the fence to make an immediate purchase. This works especially well when loyalty is high for existing customers. In that case giving up a decent amount of the profit margin on the first order, in order to profit from future orders is worth the trade-off. In the case of Thrive, which is a subscription-based service, they also get sell a one-year membership in addition to the...

The Crucial Differences Between Capitalism and Altruism

Jul 08, 15 The Crucial Differences Between Capitalism and Altruism

Posted by in Business Services

In a perfect world, capitalism and altruism could exist but such coexistence is not possible in any system we currently know. This is because capitalism and altruism are diametrically opposed concepts. If we examine these further, from a philosophical perspective, it becomes clear that both can relate to one another but cannot truly coexist. Altruism is Sacrifice It is not sacrifice when a billionaire gives away 10% of his income to charity, although it can seem sacrificial. True sacrifice would be for that billionaire to cease producing wealth entirely and devote his or her life to self-sacrifice. Capitalists are often expected to embrace altruism, which is a different concept from being charitable. The root of altruism is selfless sacrifice. Sacrifice means exchanging something of greater value for something that has less value to you. We all work to produce for our families and our communities. That is the essence of capitalism: the idea that humans are selfish by nature. Capitalism seeks to tap into the root of all evils, our own greed, and turn that energy toward public good will. Working Together There can be capitalists that exhibit altruistic tendencies, and indeed Bill Gates is one example of many. There are multiple people in higher tax brackets that have made extraordinary pledges to donate 10% of their income to charities. A more appropriate term to describe this relationship between capitalism and altruism is “philanthropy.” Philanthropy takes into account ideologies like a love of humanity, a characteristic that does not exist in capitalism. Perhaps the primary difference between the two is that one is motivated by emotion, and the other by...

How to Get a Post Removed from TheDirty.com

Mar 06, 15 How to Get a Post Removed from TheDirty.com

By Pierre Zarokian from Reputation Stars Nik Ritchie, known partier and exposer of dirt, started TheDirty.com to try and out people in his local community for the rotten things they do. It was meant to help warn people of an incoming disaster, but the site does a poor job moderating content and posts almost everything someone says. Some of that information amounts to slander, but TheDirty uses the Communications Decency Act to get away with their illicit activities. If you’ve been listed on TheDirty, here is what you need to do to get your posting removed. DMCA and Legal Approaches Most smaller websites are scared of legal action, which makes a DMCA an effective tool for removing something online if the webmaster is a single person without much money. TheDirty is a much larger operation and is prepared for legal battles. Nik Ritchie even publicizes them. Don’t make the situation worse by letting TheDirty publicly air your complaints even further, and forget the DMCA. You would be lucky if Nik Ritchie responded at all. Nik Ritchie is still protected by the CDA because he posts content written by others. The only time Ritchie has ever lost a legal challenge over this was the time he added his own comments to the content in question. However, there is a proprietary and legal method practiced by our legal team. TheDirty is a bit more responsive to legal action than Ripoff Report, but you cannot simply file a complaint and have the posting removed. If you need assistance removing a post from TheDirty, contact our reputation management firm...
